John G. Hornblower, CFA, Managing Broker, has over 25 years’ experience buying and selling businesses and their securities on Wall Street and on Main Street. John has a long family history in investment banking. In 1888 John’s great-grandfather, Henry Hornblower, founded Hornblower & Weeks, an investment banking firm which grew to be the among the most respected investment banks in the world, with over 140 offices at the time it was acquired to become part of what is now Citicorp. Weeks Bridge As an historical aside, the memory of Henry Hornblower’s partner, John Wingate Weeks, who went on to be a US Senator and then US Secretary of War, lives on today with the historic donation of the John W. Weeks Memorial Bridge to Harvard University. The Weeks Bridge is perhaps the most photographed spot on the Harvard campus. Henry Hornblower donated this beautiful bridge to Harvard in 1929. The bridge was donated to create a career pathway for students of Harvard College to the relatively new Harvard Business School, founded in 1908, much younger than Harvard College which is the oldest college in America, founded in 1636. Back to the present, John graduated with honors from Harvard, where he studied economics and rowed on the heavyweight crew. John started his finance career on Wall Street at Salomon Brothers as an equity derivatives specialist. He then moved on to Citicorp, where he headed equity derivatives sales, and then to Cantor Fitzgerald, where he traded convertible bonds with institutional investors. In 2009 he founded Hornblower Trading LLC in order to trade convertible bonds independently and relocated to beautiful Aspen, Colorado. John understands the need in business communities throughout Colorado and the Western United States for professional business brokerage services.
